The 2021 Copa America will take place on Sunday evening with hosts Brazil facing northern neighbors Venezuela at the Estadio Nacional de Brasilia.
As the clear favorites coming into this tournament, Brazil will be hoping to pick up the three points this weekend as they attempt to defend the title they won in 2019.
In recent weeks unprecedented in South American football, Brazil was appointed to host this summer's tournament at the last minute due to unrest in Colombia and the coronavirus in Argentina.
To make matters even more extraordinary, many in the Brazil camp, especially captains Casemiro and Neymar, seem to be advocating a boycott of the competition altogether due to the impact of the virus on Brazil itself.
But these obstacles were overcome and now Brazil look determined to achieve big things this summer in the hunt for back-to-back Copa America titles.
However, to achieve anything, head coach Tite will have to find a way past a Venezuelan team that can surely do some damage if they are in the mood.
The last time the two teams met in a World Cup qualifier was in November 2020, the Selecao narrowly beat Venezuela 1-0, with Roberto Firmino scoring the only goal of the game.
Venezuela came into this tournament with a poor form which saw them win just one of their last six matches.
Making things even more difficult for La Vinotinto is the fact that the nation's all-time leading scorer Salomon Rondon is not in this year's squad, meaning the team will surely be reduced in the final third.
Earlier this month, Venezuela managed to take just one point from two World Cup qualifiers against Bolivia and Uruguay respectively, with La Vinotinto losing 3-1 against Bolivia.
Venezuela are currently ninth in the qualifying table, one place above last-placed Peru on goal difference alone.
Head coach Jose Peseiro will be hoping his side can up the ante this summer and put their poor form behind them.
Having won seven games in a row, Tite is well aware of his team's attributes, and it looks unlikely that there will be any big surprises in the early 11 on Sunday.
Neymar and Firmino are expected to lead the line, with Richarlison and Gabriel Jesus just behind the front two, while Marquinhos and Eder Militao are likely to sit in front of Alisson Becker between the crossbars.
Peseiro opted for a back five formation against Uruguay this month and the decision appeared to be paying off with La Celeste failing to find its way past the defence.
It's likely Peseiro will do the same again on Sunday, relying on defensive rigidity and counter-attacking football to see La Vinotinto cross the line.
