Brazil will be looking to build on their 3-0 win over Venezuela in their Copa America opener when they face Peru on Thursday.
Brazil dominated the game in their first game and the score was quite flattering for a beleaguered Venezuelan side. Marquinhos opened the scoring for Tite's side and Neymar added to their lead from the penalty spot in the 63rd minute.
Neymar then set up Brazil's third and final goal of the game when Gabriel Barbosa crossed into the back of the net. Perhaps the biggest positive of the game for Brazil is the fact that Neymar seems so relatable. He also works well with the rest of the strikers and has little to do with the Venezuelan defenders.
Peru, on the other hand, will start their Copa America camp on Thursday. They will be hoping to draw inspiration from their recent win against Ecuador, which came at the end of a four-game losing streak. Goals by Christian Cueva and Luis Advincula proved enough to help them beat Ecuador 2-1 last Wednesday.
Their four-game losing streak started against Brazil in October 2020. After losing 4-2 to Tite's men, they conceded defeats against Chile, Argentina and Colombia. Peru surprised many with their run to the 2019 edition of the Copa America final and they will be optimistic about their chances here.
Brazil have dominated the game so far and have won 34 of the 48 matches they have played against Peru. They have lost just five times and nine matches have ended in draws. The last time the two teams clashed was in October 2020 in the World Cup Qualifiers and Brazil won the match 4-2.
Brazil have plenty of options and Tite is likely to keep the same starting XI from the match against Venezuela. Neymar will lead the attack with Gabriel Jesus and Richarlison. Fred, Casemiro and Lucas Paqueta are likely to return to play in midfield.
Experienced veterans like Raul Ruidiaz and Paolo Guerrero have been left out of the Peru squad. Ruidiaz is in fine scoring form for the Seattle Sounders, but Ricardo Gareca is focused on developing young players. Experienced midfielder Christian Cueva is expected to lead the charge for Peru.
Brazil are in good form and their stars are all playing good football. It should be easy for Neymar and his team-mates. against struggling Peruvian units.
